Hathras stampede: Everyone is shocked by the death of 121 devotees in a stampede during a satsang in Fullerai village of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The SDM has now submitted the preliminary investigation report of the accident to the District Magistrate (DM). According to the report, after the satsang was over, the devotees were trying to reach Bhole Baba, but his servants and personal guards (Black Commandos) started pushing each other, causing a stampede at the spot.
More than two lakh devotees were present
According to the SDM, more than two lakh devotees were present in the satsang. Bhole Baba reached the pandal at around 12.30 pm and his program lasted for 1 hour. Meanwhile, when Bhole Baba came out of the pandal at 1.40 pm, the devotees moved forward to touch the dust of his feet. People jumped the divider and started running towards Baba's car. But Baba's personal guards and servants started pushing and shoving. Then many people fell and were crushed by the crowd.
Many people slipped and fell in the fields
According to the SDM's report, many devotees ran towards the fields in front of the place but slipped and fell there. However, no one stopped and moved forward crushing each other. Those who fell could not get up. Due to which many devotees were seriously injured. The police personnel present on the spot admitted the injured to the hospital in ambulances. Some of them were admitted to community health centers, while others were sent to government hospitals in Etah and Aligarh for treatment.
Police filed FIR
After this incident, the police have registered a case against Bhole Baba's chief servant and the organizers. But Bhole Baba's name is not included in the FIR. Questions are being raised on this FIR of the police as well. According to the officials, permission was taken for the satsang. But permission was sought for only 80,000 devotees to attend, in contrast to which more than two lakh devotees arrived to attend the satsang.
