Babar Azam’s continuous failure: Kwena Makafa’s disdain

Babar Azam And Kwena Maphaka 173

These days, Pakistan captain Babar Azam is continuously getting out at the hands of young bowler Quena Makafa, due to which his criticism has intensified on social media. Makafa has made Babar a victim in all three formats in the last 26 days. His first hunt came on December 10, 2024, in the second T20 match between South Africa and Pakistan, where he dismissed Babar for a duck. After this, in the third ODI on 22 December, Babar was sent to the pavilion for 52 runs. Now he dismissed Babar in his debut Test also, when Babar was caught by wicketkeeper Kyle Verrene in the 35th over.

After getting out at the hands of Makafa, Babar is being ridiculed a lot on social media. One user jokingly said, “Quena Makafa has started treating Babar Azam like a VIP guest.” Another wrote, “The 18-year-old pacer has dominated Babar in all three formats.” While another user commented, “Kwena Makafa has made his test debut to show Babar his level.”

Host South Africa scored 615 runs in the first innings, in response to which Pakistan did not have a good start. Captain Shan Masood (2) and Kamran Ghulam (12) had disappointing performances, and Saud Shakeel was out without scoring any runs. However, Babar made a partnership of 98 runs with wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan (46) for the fourth wicket. Babar’s wicket fell at the score of 118. It is noteworthy that Babar had also scored a half-century in the first Test against South Africa. Currently, South Africa holds a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
