New Delhi, April 9 (HS). Before the hearing on April 10 in the case of misleading advertisement against allopathy, Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna have apologized unconditionally to the Supreme Court. Both have apologized for violating the orders of the Supreme Court.
In the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna have also apologized for the press conference a day after the order to ban the advertisement. Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna have said that now no press conference or public statement will be given. It has been said in the apology that the order of the Supreme Court will be followed in letter and spirit and such misleading advertisements will not be issued in future.
It is noteworthy that on April 2, the Supreme Court had rejected the apology letters of Acharya Balkrishna and Baba Ramdev. A bench headed by Justice Hima Kohli had said that an assurance was given by you and then there was a breach. This is an insult to the biggest court of the country and now you are apologizing. This is not acceptable to us. You better file an affidavit. The Supreme Court had said that the orders of the court cannot be taken lightly. Justice Hima Kohli had said that the orders of not only the Supreme Court but also any court in the country should not be violated. On behalf of Baba Ramdev, it was said that he is ready to apologize unconditionally from the court. After that the Supreme Court gave another chance to Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna. The court asked to file a better affidavit. The court said that the state licensing authority also did not fulfill its responsibility properly.
On March 21, Acharya Balkrishna had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court and apologized unconditionally. In his affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, Acharya Balkrishna had expressed regret over the advertisement and said that we regret the derogatory sentences in the advertisement. Acharya Balakrishna had tendered an unconditional apology for the misleading claims he had made about the miraculous abilities of Patanjali's formulations, which cast doubt on modern medicine. Acharya Balkrishna had expressed regret and said that only general statements were included in those advertisements and objectionable sentences were also inadvertently included. Balkrishna, on behalf of Patanjali Ayurveda, had filed an apology in the court for violation of the statement recorded in the order given on November 21, 2023, and said that he will ensure that such advertisements are not issued in future also.
In fact, in the earlier hearing, the Supreme Court had directed Acharya Balkrishna to appear personally in the court on April 2 for not responding to the notice. The court had also issued a show cause notice to Baba Ramdev and asked him to appear. On April 2, the Supreme Court had also rejected the apology presented by Acharya Balkrishna and Baba Ramdev.
