Prayagraj, 30 August (HS). Hearing on bail of Samajwadi Party leader and former cabinet minister Mohammad Azam Khan is going on in Allahabad High Court. A case has been registered against Azam for usurping the road cleaning machine purchased by Rampur Municipality and sending it to Jauhar University for use.
It is alleged that Azam Khan, while being the Urban Development Minister, sent the road cleaning machine purchased by the Rampur Municipality with government money to Jauhar University. After the change of government in the state, Rampur's social activist Waqar Ali Khan filed a complaint in this case against Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam and five others. In this case, a case has been registered against Azam and other accused in Kotwali Rampur.
Azam has filed an application in the High Court for bail. Justice Samit Gopal is hearing the bail application. Supreme Court lawyer Kapil Sibal argued on behalf of Azam through video conferencing. The court has fixed September 2 as the date for the state government to present its side.
