Patna, March 22 (HS). RJD has given Begusarai Lok Sabha seat to Communist Party of India (CPI). CPI has also announced the name of the candidate from this seat. With this, Congress, which was demanding Begusarai seat for Kanhaiya Kumar, has got a big blow from Lalu Yadav and Kanhaiya's card has been wiped out.
CPI General Secretary D. Raja, while talking to journalists in Patna on Friday, said that in the CPI State Committee meeting, a decision has been taken to make Avadhesh Rai the candidate from Begusarai. Avadhesh Rai will be INDIA's candidate from Begusarai. D. Raja said that CPI's demand is for two seats but at present it has been decided to give one seat. Talks are going on with RJD regarding the second seat. It is expected that his party will also get the second seat.
D. Raja had met CPI RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav a day earlier. In the conversation held there, RJD announced to give Begusarai seat to CPI. After this, the candidate was selected in the CPI State Committee meeting.
It is noteworthy that in the last Lok Sabha elections, Kanhaiya Kumar had contested from here as a CPI candidate. Later he joined Congress. Congress was demanding Begusarai seat for Kanhaiya Kumar, considered close to Rahul Gandhi, but RJD did not take any notice of it.
