Dengue is a viral fever, which has shown its outbreak not only in the country but globally. The World Health Organization has done a lot of work considering the seriousness of dengue. Every year on 16th May, National Dengue Day is given a theme, which this year is 'Be aware of dengue prevention and treatment'. The number of patients of this disease, which is spread by the female mosquito Aedes aegypti, increased from thousands to lakhs. Every year 39 crore cases are reported in the country. During the period 2014 to 2017, different types of dengue viruses were found in countries like USA, Tonga, France, Brazil, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Panama, Australia, Colombia, China, Singapore, Vietnam, Tanzania. In America alone, 10,200 dengue patients were found in 2015, out of which 1,181 patients died.
lack of awareness
Dengue spreads further when female mosquitoes bite one person after another. When a dengue mosquito bites a healthy person, symptoms of dengue start appearing in 4 to 7 days. The time it takes for the virus to spread can be 3 to 10 days. Every year in India, May 16 is celebrated as National Dengue Day by the Health Department. On this day, national and local governments reach out to government health institutions, semi-government, non-government institutions, educational institutions, cities, villages, towns, slums, etc. to create awareness about dengue. This big danger can be avoided with a little caution and awareness. Due to lack of awareness, many people mistake dengue fever for dengue fever during the summer season and take this disease to a fatal level.
dengue symptoms
Various symptoms of dengue, also known as dengue fever, include high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, skin rashes and bleeding from the nose, mouth and gums. It gets spoiled. In case of dengue, red blood cells (platelets) generally decrease in the body. In a healthy person their number ranges from 1.5 lakh to 4.5 lakh. If the platelet count is less than twenty thousand, the patient needs to be admitted to the hospital. Well, there is no need to be afraid of dengue. Only paracetamol tablets should be taken during fever.
survival methods
The mosquitoes that spread dengue breed in clean, stagnant water. We should use mosquito nets, mosquito repellent creams and oils etc. while sleeping. Change the water in coolers, refrigerators, pots, containers kept for birds once a week. Keep the lids of water tanks kept on rooftops tightly closed. During the rainy season, garbage and broken utensils on rooftops often get filled with water, destroy them. Do not allow water to accumulate in low places or around houses or pour black oil into it. This mosquito often bites during the day, so wear clothes that cover the entire body.
Free treatment in government hospitals
If symptoms of dengue are found, contact the nearest government health institution. Its investigation and treatment is free in every tehsil and district level government hospital. When the patient's fever is cured, the platelet count will increase automatically, provided there is no frequent fever. Multipurpose health workers and observers conduct door-to-door dengue activities, sensitize people and conduct blood tests. There is a need to arrange preventive measures even before the spread of any disease, so that people can avoid the bites of dengue. This can be controlled by making some precautions a part of life.
