Australia Cricket Board has announced the new captain for ODI and T20. Josh Inglis has been given the responsibility of Australia in white ball cricket. He will take over the captaincy from Pat Cummins in ODI and Mitchell Marsh in T20 International. Josh Inglis will be Australia's 30th captain in ODI and 14th in T20. Josh Inglis will be seen taking command in the white ball series against Pakistan.
Made captain for the series against Pakistan
Let us make one thing clear about the captaincy of Josh English that he has been made the captain only for the series against Pakistan. And, the reason behind this is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, for which the battle between India and Australia will start from 22nd November. Australia's regular ODI captain Pat Cummins and T20 captain Mitchell Marsh will be busy in their preparations, hence will not play further in the series against Pakistan.
Will take command from the third ODI
Josh English will take command of the Australian team from the third ODI match of the series against Pakistan. The third ODI match between the two countries will be played on 10 November. After this there will be a 3-match T20 series which will run till November 18. Pat Cummins will be seen in the role of captain in the second ODI against Pakistan. After which all these players including Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Steve Smith will be out of the ODI series and will start preparing for the Test series against India.
The answer to who will be the captain in the T20 series has been found.
Who will be the new T20 captain of Australia? The answer to this question was already in discussion because there was a strong possibility that Mitchell Marsh would not play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy T20 series starting from November 14. However, Cricket Australia has now removed all doubts by confirming the name of Josh Inglis.
Australia has taken a 1-0 lead in the ODI series by defeating Pakistan by 2 wickets in the first ODI match played in Melbourne. The second ODI is in Adelaide, by winning which the Australian team would like to win the series. If Pakistan counterattacks, it will be a challenging start to the captaincy career for new captain Josh Inglis.
