Australia announces Ashes schedule for the first time in 43 years

Day-night matches organized in Gaba

This would be the first time since 1982–83 that Brisbane would not host the first Ashes match. The future of the Gabba is in doubt due to uncertainty over plans to redevelop the stadium ahead of the 2032 Olympics. There is a possibility that next year's Ashes Test could be the last Test at the Gabba as there are no Test matches scheduled for 2026-27 and beyond.

This work will be done for the first time in 43 years

The Ashes series 2025-26 will start from Perth. The first Test match will be played from 21 November to 25 November 2025 at Perth Stadium, which will host the opening match of an Ashes series for the first time in 43 years. Cricket Australia, in collaboration with the Government of Western Australia, announced the dates for the Ashes series at an event on Scarborough Beach, Perth today, Wednesday 16 October.
