Auqib Nabi not in contention; one between Gurnoor Brar and Prasidh Krishna to play first Test vs Sri Lanka

The Indian cricket team is going to make a comeback once again in red ball cricket i.e. Test format after a long gap. The first match of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka is to be played at the historic Galle International Stadium from August 15. Just before the start of this match, Indian team captain Shubman Gill has made many important revelations regarding the playing eleven during the press conference. Captain Gill has made it clear that fast bowler Auqib Nabi is out of the race for the first Test, and now there is a tough competition between young bowlers Gurnoor Brar and Prasidh Krishna for a place in the playing eleven. Difference in bowling styles of Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar: Captain Shubman Gill, while praising both the young fast bowlers, said that both Gurnoor Brar and Prasidh Krishna come on the field with different qualities. During the practice match, both of them impressed with their bowling. The captain said that Gurnoor Brar is adept at reverse swinging the old ball and turning the match, especially when the pitch is not providing any help. Prasidh Krishna, on the other hand, has the advantage of extra pace and length, which allows him to extract extra bounce from the pitch, which is very important in Test cricket. This is why selecting one of these players is going to be a very difficult decision for the team management. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, a golden opportunity for other bowlers to prove themselves. Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is not a part of this two-match series, and in his place, Auqib Nabi was included in the 15-member squad. Talking about Bumrah’s absence, captain Shubman Gill said that although he will be missed, it is a great opportunity for other bowlers to prove their worth and cement their place in the Test team. If any bowler is successful in performing brilliantly in this series, then he can present a strong claim for the upcoming difficult and important series such as the tours of New Zealand and Australia.
