In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has completely blown its trumpet for the 2027 assembly elections. As soon as they took command of the organisation, the ‘aunt-nephew’ duo of BSP supremo Mayawati and the party’s national convenor Akash Anand have intensified the political stir. After making a historic election noise in Bulandshahr, now Akash Anand is ready to enter the field of Saharanpur on November 2 and roar at his opponents. On the other hand, the party’s national president Mayawati is going to finalize the strategy by calling a state level review meeting at the state office in the capital Lucknow on November 5. This aggressive stance of BSP in the election field has created panic in both the camps of the ruling BJP and the main opposition party Samajwadi Party (SP).
Western Uttar Pradesh has always been the traditional and strongest political fort of BSP. With the aim of making this fort impenetrable again, Akash Anand will address a huge public meeting in Saharanpur on 2nd November. This public meeting is being considered very important in view of the strong background of Dalit-Muslim equations in Saharanpur. After the first successful rally in Bulandshahr, this will be Akash Anand’s second big stop in Saharanpur, where he will directly target the central and state governments on law and order, unemployment and farmer issues. According to party sources, the main focus of Akash Anand is to connect the youth and cadre voters together, so that the Bahujan Samaj Party can again be brought to the top political position of the state in the upcoming elections.
On November 5, just three days after Akash Anand’s show of strength in Saharanpur, BSP supremo Mayawati will take a class of party stalwarts and strategists in Lucknow. In this high-profile meeting, all the district in-charges, divisional in-charges, state presidents and senior officials from across the state have been summoned. During this review meeting, Mayawati will take detailed reports of the cadre camps and organization expansion campaigns being run across the state. Along with this, the advance outline of the 2027 election campaign and the upcoming tour of Akash Anand will also be reviewed. BSP workers are expected to get new guidelines from this meeting in Lucknow, so that BSP’s election campaign can gain momentum in every corner of the state.
BSP supremo Mayawati has made clear distribution of tasks under her new political strategy. While Akash Anand, as the youth face, is carrying out the responsibility of energizing the youth and workers by holding massive rallies in various divisions of the state, Mayawati herself is taking command of the organization from the control room of Lucknow. Political analysts believe that this dual strategy of BSP can prove to be very effective in bringing back the party’s support base. The huge crowd that gathered at the rally in Anupshahr of Bulandshahr has proved that due to the activism of Akash Anand, the morale of the party workers on the ground has increased manifold.
With this new attitude of Bahujan Samaj Party, the contest for the upcoming assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh has reached a very triangular and interesting turn. On one hand, while Akash Anand is going to hold massive rallies in major districts like Agra, Ayodhya, and Kanpur Nagar in the month of November itself, after Saharanpur on November 2, on the other hand, in the Lucknow meeting on November 5, Mayawati can hand over the keys of candidate selection and booth management at the grassroots level. This strong election campaign of BSP has made it clear that the ‘aunt-nephew’ duo has once again put in all their strength to take the Bahujan movement to a new height in the politics of Uttar Pradesh.
