Atul Subhash’s wife and in-laws approach court for bail in suicide case

In the suicide case of AI engineer Atul Subhash (34), his wife, mother-in-law and brother-in-law filed a bail plea in a local court in Bengaluru on Thursday. The accused include wife Nikita Singhania, mother-in-law Nisha Singhania, and brother-in-law Anurag Singhania. They were arrested by Bengaluru Police from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh this week.

Atul’s brother Bikash Kumar had filed a complaint at the Marathahalli police station, alleging that the three instigated Atul to commit suicide. Now all the accused have filed bail petition in the court. What is the matter?

Atul Subhash, originally from Uttar Pradesh, lived in Munnekala area of ​​Bengaluru.

  • On December 9, he was found dead in his apartment.
  • After the incident, his brother alleged that Nikita and his family had demanded Rs 3 crore so that they could withdraw the cases registered against Atul.
  • A separate demand of Rs 30 lakh was made to meet the son.

Arrest and bail petition

  • Nikita Singhania was arrested from Gurugram.
  • Nisha and Anurag Singhania were arrested from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
  • All three were produced in a Bengaluru court, where they were sent to judicial custody.

Controversial relationship between Atul and Nikita

  • Atul and Nikita were married in 2019.
  • After some time of marriage, a dispute started between the two.
  • Nikita had made 9 serious allegations against Atul like attempt to murder, dowry harassment, and unnatural relationship.

Atul’s suicide note and video

Before committing suicide, Atul had left a 24-page suicide note and an 81-minute video.

  • In the suicide note, he accused his wife and in-laws of mental and physical torture.
  • Atul claimed that a judge of a family court in Uttar Pradesh was biased in favor of his in-laws.
  • He said he was harassed with repeated demands and court cases.

Complainant Bikash Kumar says:

“My brother was constantly taunted and told to die if he could not meet the demands.”

Social and legal disputes

In this case, Allahabad High Court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to Nikita’s uncle Sushil Singhania. At the same time, Bengaluru Police is now thoroughly investigating every aspect related to suicide.
