Madrid, March 5 (HS). Athletic Bilbao on Monday reached an agreement with Portuguese side Sporting Braga to sign 24-year-old forward Alvaro Jallo for a fee of 20 million euros (US$21.7 million). Jallow has become the club's third most expensive player after Inigo Martínez and Yuri Burchiche.
According to the club, he will join Athletic Bilbao next season. He has agreed to a five-year contract until the end of June 2029.
Although he was born in Madrid and has spent the last six years in Portugal, Jallow fits into Athletic Bilbao's policy of only signing players born or raised in the Basque region, as he was raised in the city next to Bilbao. He was born in the city of Basauri and his career started with the local team, Begona.
Jallow was promoted to Braga's first team in August 2022, scoring five goals and providing six assists in 41 appearances, while this season he has scored 14 goals, including five in the UEFA Champions League.
