At the end of the fluctuations, the Sensex rose 131 points to reach 77341

Mumbai: The first session of Parliament began today after the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power at the Centre and on the other hand, the possibility of development of capital market regulator SEBI's investigation into quant mutual funds shook the country's capital market. After Sensex, Nifty fell in early trading hours, funds led by Mahindra & Mahindra, majors gained in automobile stocks and select capital goods, power stocks Power Grid Corp, NTPC as well as FMCG, pharma stocks ITC, Nestle India, Sun Pharma, UltraTech Cement, ICICI Bank, Titan Company etc. Markets rallied and entered the positive zone. Sensex closed down 463.96 points at 76745.94 and Nifty closed up 131.18 points at 77341.08. While the Nifty 50 spot initially fell 151.10 points to hit a low of 23350, it digested the decline and closed 36.75 points lower at 23537.85.

Mahindra up by Rs 76, Tube up by Rs 300, Cummins up by Rs 128: Auto index jumps by 755 points

Amid speculation that the central government is set to bring petrol and diesel under the GST and has now left it to the states to decide on a price reduction of Rs 20 to Rs 22, the BSE Auto index rose 754.60 points to 57496. Tube Investments rose by Rs 299.65 to Rs 4286.55, Cummins India rose by Rs 128.50 to Rs 4026, Sundaram rose by Rs 37.55 to Rs 1333.30, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs 76.35 to Rs 2913.35, Ashok Leyland rose by Rs 4.60 to Rs 240.20, Bajaj Auto rose by Rs 142.20 to Rs 9741.75, Hero Motocorp rose by Rs 78.10 to Rs 5530, Bosch rose by Rs 331.35 to Rs 32,952, MRF rose by Rs 211.25 to Rs 1,25,516.

Capital Goods index gains 710 points: LG gains Rs 31 to Rs 768: Finolex, CG Power gain

Today, the BSE Capital Goods index rose 709.99 points to close at 72,489.21 on heavy buying by funds in capital goods, power stocks. LG Equipments rose by Rs 31.20 to Rs 768.55, Finolex Cables rose by Rs 51.55 to Rs 1612.55, CG Power rose by Rs 21.65 to Rs 701.80, Suzlon NG rose by Rs 1.67 to Rs 54.71, Hindustan Aeronautics rose by Rs 157.65 to Rs 5326.20, Honeywell Automation rose by Rs 1615.60 to Rs 57200.95, Polycab rose by Rs 185.45 to Rs 7275, Thermax rose by Rs 125 to Rs 5165.50, Siemens rose by Rs 35 to Rs 5165.50, Rs 152.85 to Rs 7584.

Funding in FMCG stocks: Bombay Burmah Trading, Gokul, Bannari Aman, ITC, Nestle up.

There was a large selection of funds in FMCG stocks today. Bombay Burmah Trading rose Rs 333.15 to Rs 2016.15, Gokul Agro rose Rs 16.50 to Rs 177.70, Bannari Aman rose Rs 270.85 to Rs 3310.05, Kaveri Seed rose Rs 48.55 to Rs 1008.10, United Spirits rose Rs 37.25 to Rs 1297.35, Radico Khaitan rose Rs 47.80 to Rs 1832.50, GM Breweries rose Rs 17.30 to Rs 666.95, Marico rose Rs 13.75 to Rs 623.50, Godrej Consumer rose Rs 24.10 to Rs 1380.45, Nestle India rose Rs 33.75 to Rs 2530.90, ITC rose Rs 3.65 to Rs 423.25. The BSE FMCG index closed at 20458.40, up 132.52 points.

Stocks rise after Sun Pharma completes merger with Taro Pharma: Alembic Pharma, Haikal, Bajaj Health, Wockhardt rise

Among pharma stocks, Sun Pharma Industries through its subsidiary and associate company announced that it has completed the merger by buying the outstanding shares of Taro Pharmaceuticals, following which the shares rose by Rs 28.30 to Rs 1494.75. Among other pharma stocks, Hical rose by Rs 30.60 to Rs 342.60, Bajaj Health rose by Rs 20.30 to Rs 344.45, Alembic Pharma rose by Rs 33.40 to Rs 902, Glaxo Pharma rose by Rs 82.55 to Rs 2621.20, Hester Bio rose by Rs 80.05 to Rs 2578.65, Neuland Lab rose by Rs 168.65 to Rs 6730.30, Wockhardt rose by Rs 11.60 to Rs 590.75, Dr. Reddy's Lab rose by Rs 89 to Rs 6097.70. , Novartis India rose by Rs 11.95 to Rs 1100. While Tarsan Products fell by Rs 17.15 to Rs 483.30, Sequent Scientific fell by Rs 3.85 to Rs 118.15, Max Healthcare fell by Rs 27.30 to Rs 898.30, Cipla fell by Rs 37.65 to Rs 1503.30, Alkem Lab fell by Rs 114.60 to Rs 5011.10, Aurobindo Pharma fell by Rs 20.75 to Rs 1220.

Consumer index up by 433: Voltas up by Rs 26 to Rs 1511: Havells, Dixon, Titan gain

Also in consumer durables stocks, the BSE Consumer Durables index closed 432.56 points higher at 59201.32 as funds made selective purchases today. Voltas rose Rs 26.10 to Rs 1511.50, Havells India rose Rs 26.85 to Rs 1913.35, Aditya Birla Fashion rose Rs 4.10 to Rs 318.65, Dixon Technology rose Rs 22.90 to Rs 3421.35, Blue Star rose Rs 4.75 to Rs 1691.25.

Indusind Bank drops Rs 36 to Rs 1490: Sell in Reliance, Adani Ports, Tata Steel, Axis Bank

The top performing stocks on the Sensex were Indusind Bank down Rs 36.25 to Rs 1490.55, Adani Ports down Rs 25.50 to Rs 1460.20, Tata Steel down Rs 1.95 to Rs 177.90, Reliance Industries down Rs 1.95 to Rs 177.90, ICICI Bank down Rs 23.80 to Rs 2883, Axis Bank down Rs 7.95 to Rs 1228.95, Bajaj Finance down Rs 43.25 to Rs 7088.75, State Bank of India down Rs 3.75 to Rs 832.

SME stocks boom: Small, mid-cap stocks again in focus: 2107 stocks closed positive

SME stocks witnessed a broad based rally today and many small, mid-cap, cash stocks again gained. The BSE SME IPO index closed 1867.05 points higher at 95103.86. The BSE Small Cap index closed 141.10 points higher at 52077.63 and the BSE Mid Cap index closed 170.83 points higher at 46137.90. Out of total 4156 stocks traded on BSE, gainers were 2107 and losers were 1890.

Investors' wealth in stock-market cap increased by Rs 1.12 lakh crore to Rs 435.60 lakh crore

Today, with the rapid recovery of stocks from the lower levels, investors' wealth i.e. the total market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased by Rs 1.12 lakh crore in a single day to Rs 435.60 lakh crore.

FPIs/FIIs net sold shares worth Rs. 654 crore: DIIs net sold shares worth Rs. 820 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPIs, FIIs net sold shares worth Rs 653.97 crore in cash today on Monday. Total sales of Rs 14,374.27 crore were made against purchases of Rs 13,720.30 crore. While DIIs-Domestic Institutional Investors net sold shares worth Rs 820.47 crore in cash today. Total sales of Rs 12,071.65 crore were made against purchases of Rs 11,251.18 crore.
