When singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh was 11 years old, he was sent to his maternal uncle's house in Ludhiana. Diljeet did not want to go to the city with uncle. He wanted to live with his parents in the village. But no one even asked him whether he wanted to go to Ludhiana or not, he was sent straight away. This resulted in a distance between him and his parents which persists to this day. Talking about his childhood days, Diljit said, 'I was 11 years old, when I left my home and came to Ludhiana and lived with my maternal uncle. Because of this I faced a lot of trouble. No one has taken my consent on this matter. Uncle asked parents to send him with me. My parents sent me with them without thinking anything. I was not asked even once. Diljit said that there was no craze for telephones at that time. Due to which the distance in the relationship increased. He said, 'At that time we did not have mobile phones. Even if I wanted to call home or call my parents, we still had to spend money for it. In such a situation, I started getting further away from my parents. Diljit further said, 'Even today I respect my mother a lot. Papa is a very good person. He never asked me anything. He didn't even ask which school I studied from. But I broke my relationship with him. Not just with him but with everyone.
