Assistant policemen's agitation ends, consensus reached on five points

Ranchi, 22 July (HS). The agitating assistant policemen have announced to end their agitation on Monday. In the meeting held by the committee formed by the government, consensus was reached on five points. After this, the assistant policemen announced to end the agitation. Earlier, the committee formed by the government in the Circuit House included six MLAs Mathura Prasad Mahato, Naman Vikas Kongadi, Rajesh Kachhap, Sudivya Kumar Sonu, Vinod Singh and Sukhram Oraon. All the six MLAs held a meeting with the representatives of the assistant policemen and heard their demands. The demands of the assistant policemen included adjustment, honorarium increase, extension of contract period, maternity leave and other demands.

Agreement reached on these demands

Adjustment: It was decided to make provision for 10 percent horizontal reservation against the vacant posts of forest guard, excise constable and home guard and to make adjustment on the preference against the vacant posts of constable under district force which is valid under the rules. This will be applicable on the advertisements issued in future except the advertisements which have been issued at present.

Increase in honorarium: The committee has decided to recommend this to the government. It was also decided by the committee that the government should be recommended to approve an amount equivalent to the annual estimable uniform allowance to the constable police personnel.

Extension of Contract Period: The decision to extend the contract period of Assistant Police Personnel for next one year from the date of expiry of the present contract period was taken by the Committee and recommended to the Government.

Maternity Leave: The Committee has decided to recommend to the Government for granting admissible maternity leave to women auxiliary police personnel on humanitarian grounds.

Earlier there was a provision to give Rs 50,000 in case of illness during work but now it has been agreed to give Rs 1 lakh and in case of death during work, Rs 4 lakh instead of one lakh will be given.

On behalf of assistant police personnel, Avinash Kumar Dwivedi, Vivekanand Gupta, Basant Kumar, Shubham Kumar Ravindra Sahu, Pappu Kumar Baitha, Praveen Kumar, Ujjwal Kumar and others were present.

It is noteworthy that the assistant policemen were continuously protesting in Ranchi's Morhabadi ground since July 2. The assistant policemen had come out to surround the Chief Minister's residence on July 19. During this, the Jharkhand Police lathi-charged them.
