Islamabad: Large-scale protests took place across the country for the release of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. As the agitators started marching towards Islamabad from different cities of the country demanding the release of their leader, they were stopped on the way. Along with this, there was a huge clash between the security forces and the protesters in which 10 people died.
Therefore, Imran Khan has asked his supporters from jail to stay away from any kind of violence and follow the path of civil law inviolability as suggested by Mahatma Gandhi. He has also warned the government that now a movement will be started in the name of Gandhi.
In a post on social media platform ‘T’ on Thursday, he said, ‘Dictatorship has come in the country. Along with this, he asked his supporters to gather in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province on 13 December. Imran Khan’s party ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’ (PTI) is currently in power there.
While suspending the agitation for the time being, the agitators have put forward two demands before the government and have said that if these are not fulfilled then they will strike again.
Imran Khan wrote on Twitter that dictatorship has come in the country. Many peaceful protesters have also been martyred as innocent political workers have been shot dead, hundreds of our workers are missing. The Supreme Court should consider this fact. We also approached Lahore High Court, Islamabad High Court and Supreme Court but no one did anything. Imran Khan also wrote that this is the situation in Pakistan today.
