Ashwini Vaishnav: 342 special trains will be run to increase passenger convenience during Ganeshotsav | News India

Let us tell you that these special trains to be run on the occasion of Ganesh Utsav were announced during the launch of a new bi-weekly train service from Mumbai's Bandra Terminal to Madgaon in Goa. Union Commerce Minister and local MP Piyush Goyal was also present on this occasion. This new bi-weekly service will improve connectivity between Mumbai's western suburbs and the Konkan region.

Railway budget increased

Ashwini Vaishnav said that the budget for 2024-25 for Maharashtra's railway network has been increased to Rs 15,940 crore. Whereas in 2014 it was only Rs 1.71 crore. In the last decade, 1830 km of new tracks have been laid in the state, which is more than the total railway network of Sri Lanka. The construction of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminal (CSMT) and 318 railway flyovers and underpasses will further boost Maharashtra's rail infrastructure.

12 major projects that will benefit passengers

Apart from the public appearance at the festival, Railway Minister Vaishnaw also stressed on improving infrastructure in Mumbai's suburban rail network. 12 major projects to be completed at a cost of Rs 16,240 crore will bring many benefits to the passengers. These major projects include CSMT-Kurla 5th and 6th line, Mumbai Central-Borivali 6th line and Panvel-Karjat suburban corridor.
