Ravichandran Ashwin: Indian cricket team’s experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin surprised the cricket world by announcing his retirement from international cricket during the Test series against Australia. When Ashwin announced his retirement after the Gabba Test, he was ranked 5th in the ICC bowler rankings. Apart from this, he was the number 3 all-rounder in the ICC rankings. Ashwin won many matches for India not only with the ball but also by scoring centuries. Ashwin will continue to play club cricket including IPL in future also. He will be seen playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling record in Test was tremendous. Ashwin made his Test debut in November 2011 against West Indies in Delhi. Ashwin took 537 wickets in 106 Test matches at an average of 24.00. Meanwhile, Ashwin took five wickets in 37 innings. Apart from this, he took 10 wickets 8 times in the match. His best performance in an innings was 7/59. Whereas his best performance in test matches was 13/140.

Ashwin took 156 wickets in 116 ODI matches at an average of 33.20. His best bowling performance in ODI cricket was 4 wickets for 25 runs. Ashwin, on the other hand, took 72 wickets in 65 T20I matches at an average of 23.22. His best performance in T20Is was 4 wickets for 8 runs.

If we talk about Ashwin’s batting record, his performance in Test matches has been quite excellent. Ashwin scored 3503 runs in 151 Test innings at an average of 25.75. During this period he scored 6 centuries and 14 half-centuries. He scored 707 runs in 63 innings in ODIs. However, Ashwin could only score 184 runs in 19 innings in the T20Is.
Whenever Ashwin scored a century, India did not lose
Recently, Ashwin scored a brilliant century (113) in the Test match against Bangladesh on home ground in September. He made a partnership of 199 runs with Ravindra Jadeja (86). In this match, the Indian team was struggling at one time after scoring 144/6 runs in the first innings. After this, Ashwin took 6 wickets in this match and the Indian team won by 280 runs. In which Ashwin played an important role. Whenever Ashwin scored a Test century for India, the Indians never lost the match.
