R Ashwin completed his century in 108 balls with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes, which is the fastest century of his career. The Indian team lost 6 wickets for 144 runs but Jadeja together handled the innings and took the team's score to 330 at the end of the first day. There was a partnership of almost 200 runs for the seventh wicket between these two batsmen. This is R Ashwin's second Test century at his home ground in Chennai. Earlier, he scored a century against England in February 2021.
