San Francisco: A shocking video of an aircraft's wheel stopping in mid-air has surfaced. Actually, the United Airlines plane was going to Japan. As soon as the plane took off and reached the sky, its wheel came off. One of the six tires on the aircraft's left main landing gear burst and fell to the ground.
This video of a tire falling within a few seconds of taking off is becoming increasingly viral on social media. The plane made an emergency landing in Los Angeles and all passengers are safe.
One out of 6 tires broke
The video shows one of the six tires on the left side of the plane's main landing gear assembly deflating seconds after takeoff. The tire hit the back window of a car in the parking lot of San Francisco International Airport. Airport spokesman Doug Yeakel said in a statement that no one was injured in the incident.
Fire engines were deployed at Los Angeles International Airport, but were not needed. Airport spokesman Day Levin said the plane landed safely. The airline said the plane, manufactured in 2002, was designed to land safely with deflated tyres. The Boeing 777 has six tires on each of the two main landing gears.
