Union Health Ministry's meeting on dengue case: The Union Health Ministry held a meeting with 9 states to know about the dengue epidemic in the state. Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have the highest number of dengue cases. While there has been a steady increase in dengue cases in the last four years, there has been a 50 percent increase in dengue cases this year compared to last year. Meanwhile, a total of 18 cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai joined the meeting virtually.

Heavy to very heavy rains have been reported in many areas of Saurashtra including South Gujarat in the state. Against the rise in dengue cases during the monsoon season, when cases of mosquito-borne disease spread, the Union Health Ministry reviewed the dengue situation of the states and what the state governments should do to prevent it. Today (August 2), the Union Health Ministry held a high-level meeting with the states of Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal and discussed the state's health arrangements. In which the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have reported the highest number of dengue cases.
50 percent increase in dengue cases
In the meeting, Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra stressed on vigilance and alertness regarding the increasing cases of dengue in the state. He stressed, 'Appropriate health measures are requested to prevent excessive spread of mosquito-borne diseases during the rainy season.' Dengue cases are particularly high in the months of August, September and November. There has been a steady increase in dengue cases in the last four years. The highest number of dengue cases are reported in October, but this year till July 31, the number of dengue cases has increased by 50 percent compared to last year.
What did Health Secretary Apurva Chandra say?
Chandra said, 'Meanwhile, the Urban Development Ministry, the state government and the system should take appropriate steps regarding the increasing cases of dengue. Along with this, the state government and the municipality have been asked to remain alert at all times regarding the increase in dengue cases. In which instructions have been given to keep the entire hospital ready by taking precise steps to check the hot spot locations of the state. Meanwhile, a total of 18 cities including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai joined the meeting virtually.
