Arvind Kejriwal reached Delhi High Court challenging all the summons of ED

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday challenged all nine summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged liquor scam case in the Delhi High Court. The Division Bench of the High Court will hear the petition of the convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday. The central agency on Sunday issued its ninth summons to Kejriwal for questioning on Thursday, March 21.

The central agency had sent the first summons to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on November 2, 2023 but he did not appear. After this, the agency sent summons to him on 21 November, 3 January, 18 January, 2 February, 19 February, 26 February, 4 March and 17 March. CM Kejriwal did not appear on any summons and accused the central government of misusing the agency. Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi Chief Minister claim that the central agency ED wants to arrest him.

The ED had approached the court for violating the summons sent to it to join the investigation in the Delhi liquor policy scam case. Two complaints were filed against him and after this he appeared in the court on Saturday. In the earlier hearing, the Chief Minister had appeared before the bench through video conferencing. However, the Rouse Avenue Court considered the cases against him as bailable and granted him bail on two bonds totaling Rs 50,000.

Six chargesheets have been filed so far in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam case. The central agency had named former AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh and his aide Sarvesh Mishra in its sixth chargesheet. The agency claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party had used Rs 45 crore collected under this policy in the Goa Assembly elections.
