Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will remain in jail as his judicial custody has been extended till July 3.
Earlier, the court had refused to grant interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The court also extended Kejriwal's judicial custody till June 19. Rouse Avenue Court had extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had said in the chargesheet that bribes were also taken from businessmen of Punjab in exchange for investment in the liquor business in the capital. He also said that in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ruled Punjab, businessmen who do not pay bribes are not allowed to invest in the liquor business. For the first time, a case has been registered against a political party under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
According to the date given by the Supreme Court, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal surrendered. CM Kejriwal surrendered after visiting Rajghat, Hanuman temple and meeting party leaders.
