Indian cricketers Arshdeep Singh and Smriti Mandhana have been nominated for the ICC Awards 2024 for their stellar performances. Arshdeep has received a nomination for ‘ICC Men’s T20 International Cricketer of the Year’ and Mandhana has received a nomination for ‘ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year’.
Arshdeep Singh: Historic performance of India’s fast bowler
Arshdeep Singh made his mark in T20 Internationals for Indian cricket in 2024.

- 36 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 13.5.
- This is the second best performance by an Indian fast bowler in a year after Bhuvneshwar Kumar (37 wickets in 2022).
- T20 World Cup:
- Arshdeep jointly tops Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqui with 17 wickets in the World Cup.
- In the final, he troubled the South African team by dismissing big batsmen like Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock.
- India’s victory was ensured by giving just 4 runs in the 19th over.

Along with Arshdeep, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Australia’s Travis Head, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza are also contenders for the award.
Smriti Mandhana: Strong performance from India’s stylish opening batsman
Smriti Mandhana made many records for the Indian women’s cricket team in 2024.
- Statistics:
- 743 runs in 12 innings at an average of 61.91 and strike rate of 96.99.
- Also showed all-round performance by taking one wicket.
- Important innings:
- She was the ‘Player of the Series’ after scoring 343 runs against South Africa in June.
- At the end of the year, she was in excellent form by scoring two centuries against New Zealand and Australia.
- He scored a century and took an important wicket against South Africa to help India win by four wickets.
Competing for the award:
Along with Mandhana, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt, Sri Lanka’s Chamri Atapattu, and Australia’s Annabel Sutherland will compete for the award.
