150 feet high suspension bridge built in 48 hours

Engineers of the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army have built a 150 feet suspension bridge in North Sikkim. Working in challenging conditions, the army engineers have built a pedestrian suspension bridge over a fast flowing river in less than 48 hours. With the help of this bridge, the border villages will be connected again. Now people can easily cross the river and go from one end to the other. Even before this, the army personnel had carried out a big rescue operation to save hundreds of tourists trapped in the flood.

Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has held a review meeting to deal with floods in various parts of northeastern states including Sikkim during monsoon. According to the information received, major floods occur in northeastern states due to rising water level in rivers during monsoon. States like Sikkim, Assam, Mughal and Tripura are flooded with flood water during monsoon. The Home Minister held a meeting with all stakeholders to make necessary arrangements and preparations to deal with this.

50 large lakes will be built in the Northeast

Flash floods triggered by bursting of glaciers and lakes have claimed several lives in the past few years. Hundreds of people have been displaced. Communication lines and road networks have been disrupted in Sikkim and Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, flood experts have suggested building at least 50 large lakes in the Northeast to divert the water of the Brahmaputra river.
