25 Muslim Rohingya, including some children, were killed in a military airstrike in eastern Myanmar late on Monday night. 25 people have also been injured in the air attack. Local media has given this information. The United Nations chief has expressed concern over the military attack. The military airstrike took place on Thada village, north of Minbya township in Myanmar's Rakhine state. The military government has not yet responded to the attack. UN chief Antonio Guterres expressed grief over this incident and said that the situation in Myanmar is getting worse. A spokesman for Guterres said the UN chief condemns all forms of violence. The UN chief reiterated his call for an end to violence and protection of civilians. Since Sein seized power from Aung San Suu Kyi's government in February 2021, Myanmar's government has been increasing airstrikes to counter the popular armed struggle. 936 civilians were killed and 878 injured in 1,652 airstrikes carried out by the military since the coup in 2021. 137 religious buildings, 76 schools and 28 hospital buildings have been damaged in the air strikes.

The dead include six children

Thada village with Rohingya population is located at a distance of 350 kilometers from Mandalay city. 90 percent of the population here is Buddhist. People of two villages near Thada said that two bombs were thrown at around 1.30 am on Monday night. 25 people were killed in that bombing. Six children were also among the dead. Villagers said those who had fled to nearby villages during the war had now become victims of the bombing. Rakhine State has a majority Buddhist community. It was earlier known as Arakan. Like other ethnic groups in Myanmar, the Rakhine are demanding autonomy from the central government. The heavily armed Arakan Army has been attacking army posts in Rakhine since last November.
