Yes, some medical panel in collaboration with Indian Medical Council of Research and Madras Diabetes Research Foundation, Chennai conducted a research which revealed that eating food items like pakodas, samosas and chips increases the risk of diabetes.

What does the study say?

According to study researchers, foods like samosas, pakodas and chips are rapidly increasing the risk of diabetes in India. The study was conducted on young adults aged 25 to 45 who had a body mass index of 23 or higher. In the research, participants were given low and high diets for 12 weeks. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also expressed concern over this and said that diabetes is increasing rapidly in India due to the consumption of such items. This study has been published in the Journal of Food Science and Nutrition.

Foods with high glycemic index increase blood sugar

According to health experts, foods with high glycemic index are harmful to health in other ways and also increase the risk of diabetes. Oily foods like pakoras, chips, samosas, Chinese noodles and chole bhature have high glycemic index, which increases the risk of diabetes. By eating these things the blood sugar level in the body increases rapidly. If you follow this habit for a long time, the risk of diabetes increases rapidly.
