The government had set up a snake helpline of 11 members

The special thing is that the government had already prepared an 11-member snake helpline due to suspected snakes. Apart from this, three members of the unit were standing outside the Ratna Bhandar to prevent any untoward incident. Along with this, Puri District Headquarters Hospital was asked to keep a stock of antivenom ready.

Snake Helpline general secretary Shubhendu Malik said, “We were fully prepared with the equipment by the time Ratna Bhandar opened. However, no snake was found so our services were not required.” Retired judge Vishwanath Rath, chairman of the 16-member committee formed by the government, said that the fear of unemployment was raised even before the opening of Ratna Bhandar.

After opening the gem we are safe

At present, tight security has been put in place outside the entire temple. The government has also deployed state and central forces for tight security around the temple. At least 85 Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have provided security outside the temple. While 5 platoons of state police are inside the temple.

The process of opening the Ratna Bhandar was started at around 10:00 am. Lord Loknath is considered the protector of gems and this process started after the Ajna Mala was placed in the Loknath temple.
