Ahmedabad, September 23 (HS). Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the allocation of a total of Rs 255 crore from the Chief Minister Urban Road Scheme to three municipal corporations of the state under the Golden Jubilee Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme. The Chief Minister has given in-principle approval to allocate Rs 181.50 crore to Surat Municipal Corporation for various 579 works of widening existing roads, building new roads, footpath construction, CC road and road carpet and re-carpet.
It is noteworthy that under this scheme, the state government provides assistance from the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shahri Vikas Yojana for construction of new roads and repair of existing roads in the metros of the state. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the proposal of three metropolitan municipalities presented before him by the Urban Development Department in this regard. Apart from Surat Municipal Corporation, the Chief Minister has approved the allocation of Rs 60.78 crore to Rajkot Municipal Corporation for 12 different works of urban road.
He has approved an amount of Rs 12.84 crore for road renovation works in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation area. In the last four years, under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme by the Urban Development Department of the State Government, from the Chief Minister Urban Road Scheme component, an amount of Rs 961.47 crore has been sanctioned for a total of 1529 urban road works, including Rs 740.85 crore for 1493 works to Surat Municipal Corporation, Rs 168.94 crore for 29 urban road works to Rajkot Municipal Corporation and Rs 57.68 crore for 07 works to Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation.
