Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has expressed deep sorrow over the violent incidents and tense situation that took place in the state last year. He apologized to the people of the state and said, “This year has been very unfortunate. I apologize for whatever happened from May 3 till now.” The Chief Minister admitted that these incidents have caused huge loss to the state.

Biren Singh said, “Many people lost their loved ones in these incidents and thousands of people had to flee their homes. I deeply regret this. I apologize to everyone.”
He expressed hope that the new year of 2025 will bring peace and harmony in Manipur. The Chief Minister appealed to all the communities of the state, “Whatever happened, let bygones be bygones. We have to forget old mistakes and start afresh. We all have to come together to build a peaceful and prosperous Manipur.”
Chief Minister’s view on the events of last year
The violence that started on 3 May 2023 shook Manipur.

Addressing a press conference in Imphal, Biren Singh said, “Peace is being restored in Manipur. The only solution to this is discussion and dialogue, the initiative of which has already been taken by the Central Government.”
The Chief Minister also said that significant progress has been made in restoring peace in the last 3-4 months.
