Ranchi, 29 November (Hindu). Anurag Gupta reached the police headquarters on Friday and assumed the charge of Jharkhand DGP. After assuming charge on this occasion, the DGP said that the emphasis will be on strengthening the internal system of the police. He said that the emphasis will be on curbing crime, maintaining law and order, instilling confidence in the police among the common people and strengthening the internal system of the police. Besides, emphasis will be laid on police reinstatement, timely promotion and special training.
He said that wherever the police force is required, that much deputation will be ensured. Gupta said that good behavior of the police with the common people, quick disposal of their problems, showing sensitivity towards the elderly, weak and women will be his priority. They will try their best to ensure that the police respond quickly to any type of criminal incident.
It is noteworthy that earlier on Thursday night, the government had given additional charge of Jharkhand DGP to Anurag Gupta, who was posted as CID and ACB DG. IPS Anurag Gupta has worked on important positions in Jharkhand Police. He has served as Garhwa and Hazaribagh SP and Ranchi SSP. Apart from this, he has worked as DIG of Bokaro Range for a long time. He also has the experience of working as ADG Special Branch for a long time in Jharkhand Police Headquarters. Gupta is a bright IPS officer of 1990 batch.
