East Champaran, 14 November (HS). Some anti-social elements set fire to the sack of paddy threshed in Jhagrua Ghat located in Ahiraulia village of Chiraiya police station area of the district. Due to which fifty sacks of paddy and straw were burnt to ashes.
The incident happened late on Wednesday night. The victim Lal Mohammad Mistry has informed the police station and the area. As soon as information about the incident was received, police station incharge Mahendra Kumar and revenue employee Prem Kumar reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Empty bottles of English liquor were found scattered near the spot. In this regard, the fire victim told that yesterday evening he got late in threshing the paddy of about one bigha field, which he kept in a sack, kept it at the same place, hid it with straw and went home to sleep. When we reached the said place in the morning to transport the paddy, all the paddy was set on fire. Besides, the pile of straw kept near the site of the incident was also set on fire. In this regard, the police station incharge said that it is being investigated.
