Anti-Islam leader Geerd Wilders out of the race for PM of Netherlands, other parties not ready to support

In the Netherlands, anti-Islam leader Geert Wilders' hopes of becoming Prime Minister seem to be dashing.

Geert Wilders himself has announced that I am out of the PM race because other parties are not ready to support me as PM in a coalition government. I can become PM only if all the parties joining the alliance support me, but that is not happening.

Wilder's Freedom Party surprised everyone by securing the highest number of votes in last year's elections and becoming the number one party. However, since their party cannot get a clear majority, they can form the government only with the support of other parties, as has been the case in India.

For this, his Freedom Party is in talks with three other political parties, VVD, New Social Contract and another political party, but talks are not progressing on Wilders becoming PM.

According to media reports, other parties have set a condition for joining the government that Wilders should not be made the PM. However, it is not yet clear whether any other person has been agreed upon for the post of PM or not.

On the other hand, Wilders' anti-Islam attitude remains the same. He has said in his latest post on social media that, I want the cabinet of the next government to be right wing. The number of immigrants coming into the country should be reduced and priority should be given to the Netherlands. For me, the country and its citizens are more important than me.
