To participate in this, thousands of Sikhs living in Canada reached the Municipal Plaza of Calgary. This plaza is in front of the local United States diplomatic mission. According to this report, it was organized by the pro-Khalistan group Sikh for Justice (SFJ). The group organized it to know the opinion of the Sikhs of Alberta province. It is estimated that 10 lakh Sikhs live in Canada and about one lakh live in Calgary. Hardeep Singh Nijjar's family was the first to vote for the referendum. Khalistan Council President Dr. Bakshish Singh Sandhu spewed venom against India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the beginning of the voting.
