Another train accident: Five coaches derail in West Bengal | News India

Goods train derails in West Bengal: Five coaches of an empty freight train derailed on Tuesday morning at New Maynaguri station in Alipurduar division of West Bengal. There was no loss of life or property in this accident. The cause of this accident is not yet known. The incident is being investigated.

Train operations will start soon

According to information given by the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway Zone, railway services were affected. Operations were diverted through alternate routes. Senior officials including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Alipurduar reached the spot to monitor the situation. Repair work has been started on the track and coaches affected by the accident. There are five operational lines. Train services will be restored soon.

Officials are keeping a close watch on the situation to minimise any disruption on the railway track. Station Superintendent Mukesh Kumar said, “The goods train derailed, the incident took place at 6.20 am today. No casualties have been reported. Repair work is underway. The cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained. The team is investigating it.”
