Another terrorist arrested by Bengal police, brought from Chennai to Kolkata

Kolkata, June 29 (HS). Another terrorist Anwar Sheikh, a resident of Mangalkot in East Burdwan, has been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police from Chennai. A few days ago, a college student from Kanksa in West Burdwan was arrested by the STF on charges of being associated with a banned terrorist organization of Bangladesh.

According to STF sources, Anwar was arrested from Virugambakkam area of ​​Chennai. He was produced in a Chennai court on Friday. On Saturday, when Anwar was produced in Durgapur Sub-Divisional Court on transit remand, the judge ordered him to be sent to STF custody for 14 days.

Earlier, Mohammad Habibullah was arrested from Kankasa on June 22 on suspicion of terrorism. STF sources claimed that the student was a member of the “Shahadat” module of Bangladesh's banned terrorist organization Ansar al-Islam. Later, a companion of Habibullah was arrested from Howrah station.

According to investigators, Anwar was also connected to the terrorist organization through WhatsApp and blogs since 2020. He fled to Chennai only after the arrest of Habibullah and his companion. Anwar is a resident of Dhalaipadia of Kulsona village in Bhagyagram area of ​​​​Mangalkot.
