Annapurna Devi won from Koderma by a big margin for the second time in a row

Koderma, June 4 (HS). NDA's BJP candidate Annapurna Devi has been elected MP for the second consecutive time from Koderma parliamentary seat. She has defeated Mahagathbandhan's CPI(ML) candidate Vinod Singh by a huge margin.

Annapurna Devi joined BJP in the year 2019. At that time, by cutting the ticket of the then MP Ravindra Rai from Koderma, BJP had expressed confidence in Annapurna Devi and made her the candidate from here. Annapurna Devi's husband Ramesh Prasad Yadav, who has been an MLA from Koderma four times, has been a minister in the Bihar government. Annapurna Devi entered politics after the untimely death of her husband.

Annapurna Devi won consecutively as a RJD candidate in the 1998 assembly by-election and the assembly elections of 2000, 2005 and 2009. Annapurna Devi was made a minister in the Hemant Soren government formed in Jharkhand in 2013. In 2014, she had to face defeat from the Koderma assembly seat. Annapurna Devi was then defeated by BJP's Neera Yadav.

In 2019, Annapurna Devi, as a BJP candidate, defeated JVM candidate Babulal Marandi by a margin of 04 lakh 55 thousand 600 votes on the Koderma Lok Sabha seat. Although the margin of victory decreased this time, Annapurna Devi won by a much larger margin than was being estimated. BJP got a total of 56 percent votes here while CPI-ML got 32 percent votes.
