Animal Husbandry Minister emphasized on high quality and women empowerment in dairy sector

Jaipur, 1 July (HS). Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Cow Breeding Minister Joraram Kumawat stressed on the development of other milk producing unions in the state. Stating that it is important to maintain the quality of milk through the mobile laboratory run by Jaipur Dairy, he directed Jaipur Dairy to operate additional mobile laboratories. Kumawat called for working on high quality milk and milk products in Rajasthan. Along with this, as per the wishes of the Chief Minister, he also stressed on women empowerment in the dairy sector.

Kumawat was speaking as the chief guest at a grand ceremony organized on the occasion of the launch of six new dairy products at the Jaipur Dairy premises here on Monday. While launching Thar Amrit, a cow milk from Urmul, Bikaner by Jaipur Dairy, he said that providing pure and nutritious cow milk to consumers is a virtuous deed.

The special guest of the program, Minister of State for Home and Animal Husbandry, Jawahar Singh Bedham, while praising Jaipur Dairy, said that other dairies of the state should learn from the working of Jaipur Dairy. He said that a committee should be formed to study the working of Jaipur Dairy and other cooperative dairies of the state in detail and on the basis of its report, other dairies should take corrective steps.

On this occasion, Sitaram Bhale, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Cow Breeding Department said that Rajasthan has a huge potential for dairy development and cooperative dairies have an important role in exploring these possibilities. He said that Jaipur Dairy should launch high quality and pure cow ghee along with cow milk.

Sushma Arora, Managing Director of Rajasthan Co-operative Dairy Federation, while congratulating the team of officers and employees of Jaipur Dairy, said that in the coming days some more products of Saras will also be launched which include biscuits made from camel milk and camel milk powder.

Jaipur Dairy's Managing Director Manish Faujdar said that Jaipur Dairy launched two new flavours of buttermilk – Mint Buttermilk and Tadka Buttermilk – along with three new flavours of ice cream – Vanilla Sugar Free, American Nuts and Strawberry. Apart from this, Thar Amrit, cow milk of Bikaner's Urmul Dairy was also launched. Faujdar said that more products will be launched in the coming months and an additional mobile laboratory will be operated as per the wishes of the Cabinet Minister. Both the flavours of 250 ml buttermilk will be available at the rate of Rs 15 per pack, while 500 ml cow milk will be available at Rs 28 and 1 liter milk at Rs 56. All the three flavours of ice cream in 90 ml pack will be available at the rate of Rs 25 per pack.

Jaipur Dairy should get full autonomy

Welcoming the guests, Jaipur Dairy Chairman Om Poonia mentioned the 50-year development journey of the dairy and highlighted the achievements of Jaipur Dairy during the last few years and highlighted the future plans. He demanded that like Amul Dairy of Gujarat, Jaipur Dairy should be given full autonomy so that it can take its own decisions related to its business.

Signs of increase in milk prices

Later, while addressing the journalists, Poonia hinted at increasing the price of milk and said that during the elections, Amul, Mother Dairy and other competing dairies had also increased the price of their milk, so now we also need to increase the price of milk a little so that the market can be balanced and the farmers can get benefit. He hinted that increasing the price of milk by 1 to 2 rupees will not have any special effect on the common man.
