Angry farmers stopped work of Bharat Mala project due to non-receipt of compensation

East Champaran, June 22 (HS). Angry farmers, who did not get compensation for the acquired land, have stopped the road construction work being built from Chakia to Bairgania under the Bharat Mala project. Before stopping the work, hundreds of angry farmers, under the leadership of Rupahara PACS president Sonu Singh, staged a one-day sit-in protest at the Hanuman temple complex in Ambaria village on Saturday and then disrupted the work.

Farmers say that under this project, the land of hundreds of farmers has been acquired. Compensation has not been paid to them till now. Farmers are tired of making rounds from the zonal office to the district land acquisition office for the compensation amount, while the road construction work is going on at a rapid pace. There is no possibility of getting compensation after the road construction.

Upon receiving information about the sit-in protest and stopping of road construction work, Sikrahna DCLR Abhishek Kumar Srivastava and Shikarganj SHO Mohammad Shahrukh reached the spot and talked to the farmers and ended the sit-in.

While talking to the farmers, DCLR said that within ten days LPC will be made and sent to the land acquisition office. At present, there is a ban on making offline LPC, but those farmers who have Jamabandi in their own name can make it by applying online. Those who have Jamabandi in the name of their ancestors, parents or Patidar, they can talk to the District Magistrate to make LPC in offline mode, this problem will be solved within ten days.

The protesting farmers said that if there is no positive initiative by July 2, they will start the agitation again on July 3. Many people including farmers Sanjay Kumar Singh, Dilip Kumar Singh, Vipin Kumar Singh, Anil Singh, Rajkishore Singh, Bhagirath Thakur, Kanhaiya Kumar, Pradeep Sah, Chitranjan Singh and Shambhu Singh were present on the occasion.
