Anger among people due to stopping of Ram Navami procession in Hazaribagh, arson and vandalism of police vehicles, lathi charge


Hazaribagh, 16 April (Hindustan Reporter) People angry over the stopping of Ram Navami procession in Barkagaon of the district vandalized police vehicles late on Tuesday evening. There is a state of anger among Ram devotees till late evening after the administration stopped the return procession of Ashtami in Mahudi village of Barkagaon police station area.

Ram devotees broke the barricades on the northern side put up by the police and moved forward first. Others started trying to move forward by raising slogans of Jai Shri Ram near the barricading, meanwhile an incident of arson took place in the scaffolding. Angry people vandalized half a dozen administration vehicles. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the crowd. Ambulance vehicles have arrived to control the fire. As soon as information about the incident was received, Hazaribagh DC Nancy Sahay and Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar Singh reached Mahudi village and took charge. As it was night, an atmosphere of chaos was created.

The administration team led by Hazaribagh Sadar SDO Shailesh Kumar and Barkagaon SDPO Kuldeep Kumar tried to convince the people but failed.
