Andhra Pradesh government formed 9-member committee to probe Tirupati Prasad controversy | News India

Amid the Tirupati laddu adulteration controversy, the Andhra Pradesh government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged adulteration of ghee used in the preparation of the famous Tirumala Venkanna laddu.

The SIT will be headed by Guntur Range Inspector General of Police Shrestha Tripathi. The SIT will also investigate other irregularities allegedly committed during the previous YSR Congress Party rule in Tirumala. Shat Tripathi, a 2006 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has previously served as Joint Superintendent of Police (SP) of Guntur and Krishna districts.

Who is included in the committee?

Apart from Shrestha Tripathi, the SIT team includes Visakhapatnam range Deputy Inspector General IPS Gopinath Jatti, YSR Cuddapah district Superintendent of Police IPS V Harshvardhan Raju and Tirupati district Additional Superintendent of Police Venkata Rao. Other members include Deputy Superintendent of Police G.

The government order states that the SIT can seek relevant information and help from any department of the government during the investigation. All government departments will cooperate with the SIT in the discharge of its duties and provide any information or technical assistance appropriately sought. Similarly, the SIT can seek the assistance of an external expert by requesting the Director General of Police.
