Ontario: An Indian couple and their young daughter died in a mysterious fire in Ontario province of Canada. Police said that the incident took place on March 7. Due to fire in the house, the bodies were burnt to such an extent that they could not even be identified.
A mysterious fire broke out in a house in the Big-Skyway and Van Kirk Drive area in the city of Bampton, Ontario, a statement issued by the police said. When the police searched the house after the fire was extinguished, they found human remains, but the dead could not be identified nor could the number of dead be known. Their names became known only on Friday. It has been learned that the deceased include Indian-origin Rajiv Warik (51), his wife Shilpa Kaag (47) and daughter Mehak Warik (16).
At first it seemed that the fire was accidental, but upon further investigation the police strongly suspected that the fire was not accidental. Police Constable Taryn Young said the cause of the fire was suspicious and all aspects would be investigated to determine the cause.
Taryn Young told Channel C TV that we are currently investigating with the Homicide Bureau. This fire looks suspicious. The fire marshal also said that the fire would not have started accidentally. Eyewitnesses said that they had earlier heard a loud bang. Kenneth Yusuf, a neighbor of the deceased family, said that the entire house caught fire after the explosion.
CTV quoted Yusuf as saying that when we came out of the house after hearing the explosion, the house was on fire. This was a very sad incident. Everything collapsed within a few hours.
After the fire was extinguished on Friday, the PG Regional Police Home Guard Bureau Chief along with the Chief Coroner sought the names of the deceased to find out the cause of death.
