An elderly voter died in Ballia due to extreme heat, three policemen including a sub-inspector fainted in Ghazipur | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

Lucknow, June 01 (HS). In the seventh and final phase, voting is going on in 13 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh. Due to the scorching heat, the polling personnel and police personnel on election duty are facing a lot of problems. In many places, cases of police personnel falling ill and fainting are coming to light. At the same time, a case of death of a voter who had reached a polling booth has come to light.

According to the information, the intense heat during voting is a big challenge for the employees and police personnel engaged in election duty. Three policemen including a sub-inspector, who were on election security duty near the polling station in Ghazipur, fainted due to heat. All three have been taken to the hospital. The District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police reached the spot and enquired about the condition of the police personnel in the hospital. The District Election Officer advised all the employees engaged in conducting the elections to drink ORS solution regularly.

On the other hand, an elderly voter died at a polling booth in Ballia district. 65-year-old Rambachan Chauhan, a resident of Chak Bahauddin village, had come to vote. After standing in the queue, he felt dizzy and fell down. By the time people took him to the hospital, he had died. Doctors say that the elderly man died due to heat.

It is noteworthy that today in the seventh and final phase of elections, voting is taking place in Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon (reserved), Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Robertsganj in UP. There have been complaints of malfunctioning of EVMs at many places during voting.
