Amritsar: Police have arrested two members of the gang who created fear and extorted money by opening fire at the behest of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Two pistols and ten cartridges have been recovered from the possession of the accused and a case has been registered. SSP (Rural) Charanjit Singh said that the police is conducting raids to arrest four other members of the gang. Many contacts were also found from the mobile phone found with the accused.

It has come to light that the arrested accused have links with the criminals in jail. In the coming days, these miscreants who are in jail will also be arrested and brought for questioning on production warrant. Police have identified the arrested accused as Harmanjot Singh resident of village Athwal district Gurdaspur and Lovepreet Singh resident of village Guman. Investigation revealed that the accused had opened fire outside the house of an NRI named Sukhchain Singh near the bridge near Katthoonangal a few days ago and had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore from him. After the incident, when the police started investigating the call details of Sukhchain Singh, the numbers of both the accused came to light. When the police raided to control them, both of them escaped. The police took action and arrested both of them on Saturday morning. Both the accused were presented in the court. The court has sent both of them on police remand for five days.
