PM Modi's meeting with the President of Iran: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Iranian President Masoud Pajekian in Russia on Tuesday. In this first meeting with Modi after Iran's presidential election in July, Pajeskian stressed the need for peace in West Asia and India's role in reducing tensions as it has good relations with all parties.
Chabahar Port and International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) were also discussed between the two leaders during the visit on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. In a post on X, PM Modi wrote that 'the meeting with President Pajeskian was good and he reviewed the relations.' Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that 'the discussion was useful.'
Both the leaders expressed concern over the ongoing tension in West Asia and called upon India to protect its citizens. Misri said that the two leaders also discussed the situation in Afghanistan. The Prime Minister invited the President of Iran to visit India, which he accepted. The meeting between the two leaders took place at a time when the conflict between Israel, Hamas and Hezbollah has increased.
Putin and Xi Jinping held bilateral meeting

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping also held a bilateral meeting ahead of the BRICS summit. Putin also hosted a dinner for leaders invited to the BRICS summit on Tuesday.
Indian community warmly welcomed PM Modi
Members of the Indian community enthusiastically welcomed Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival in Kazan. They sang songs in Sanskrit and Hindi and also raised slogans of 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. The Prime Minister thanked him with folded hands. Russian artists dressed in traditional Indian attire presented a Russian dance for the Prime Minister, who watched with great interest. Some ISKCON members also sang Krishna hymns.
