Earlier every year monsoon used to enter Andaman by 22nd May. “The Southwest Monsoon is very likely to advance into South Andaman Sea, parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands around May 19, 2024,” the weather department said.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of increasing heat in North India. Heat wave is going to prevail in North-West India from May 16. At the same time, heat wave will continue in Eastern India from May 18. There is a possibility of heavy rain in South India till May 20.

According to the Meteorological Department, in the last 24 hours there was heavy rain in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, North Interior Karnataka, Kerala. Hail fell in Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Central Maharashtra. At the same time, the storm occurred in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Central Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa.

The Meteorological Department has said that there will be light to moderate rain in Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada on May 15-17, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat on May 15 and 16. Apart from this, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are going to receive light to moderate rain for the next seven days. There will be heavy rain in Andaman on 19th May. Talking about South India, there will be light to moderate rain in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka. Apart from this, rain alert has also been issued in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana during the next seven days.

A new Western Disturbance is going to hit the Western Himalayan region on May 17, due to which there will be light to moderate rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during May 17-19. The Meteorological Department says that the maximum temperature in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Vidarbha, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Western Uttar Pradesh was 40-42 degrees Celsius.
