The controversy that started after the declaration of the much-awaited exam results of Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET 2026) has now reached a decisive point. There was intense anger among the candidates across the state after the results released by Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) on August 26, 2026 showed massive discrepancies, less marks and the results of thousands of candidates were suddenly shown as rejected. In view of the ever increasing student agitation and the seriousness of the complaints of the candidates, the Selection Commission has issued an official notification providing the dissatisfied candidates an opportunity to formally file objections and representations. According to the latest instructions of the Commission, any candidate who is dissatisfied with the status of his/her marks, evaluation of OMR sheet or result can send his/her detailed representation along with evidence to the Commission by midnight of 10th September 2026. Any application received after September 10 will not be considered. This decision has given hope of justice to lakhs of candidates who were declared failed or rejected on the scorecard despite passing after matching with the official answer key.
This unexpected controversy that has arisen over the results of UPTET 2026 has its roots in the computerized evaluation and marking system of OMR sheets. When the result went live on the official portal on August 26, the result status of more than 60,000 candidates was showing only ‘Rejected’ on their scorecards. The initial argument of the Commission was that due to these candidates filling the roll number, question booklet series or language code circles incorrectly or leaving them incomplete in the OMR sheet, the scanning software refused to process their copies. Although the candidates claim that they had filled all the details correctly in the presence of room invigilators in the examination hall, yet their years are being wasted due to technical glitches. Apart from this, the second big controversy is regarding the huge difference in marks. Hundreds of candidates say that after matching the provisional and final answer keys released by the Commission, they were scoring 95 to 110 marks, which was much more than the cut-off for general and reserved categories. But when the online scorecard was downloaded on August 26, the marks showed reduced to between 70 and 75 and he was declared ‘Fail’. Due to this strong protest by the candidates and the pressure of technical complaints, the Commission had to hastily remove the main link to download the result from its official website on September 4.
After the flaws in the results were exposed, a large number of candidates reached the central office of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission in Prayagraj and personally submitted the memorandum, due to which an atmosphere of huge chaos and chaos was created in the office premises. In view of this, the Commission has made immediate changes in its functioning and issued clear instructions that now offline or physical representation of any candidate will not be accepted in the Commission’s office. The Commission has digitalized the entire process for the convenience of the candidates and to maintain transparency. Now the candidates will have to send their objection directly to the authorized email ID of the Commission.

In the body of the email, clearly mention your full name, father’s name, exam date, exam center name, paper (Primary Level – Paper 1 or Upper Primary Level – Paper 2) and booklet series of OMR sheet.

Write your problem in clear and concise words that you have objection to the evaluation of which subject or question or the reasons for which your result has been shown as rejected.

Attach self-signed copy of your UPTET 2026 Admit Card, copy of downloaded scorecard and clear PDF or JPG format of Candidate’s Carbon Copy of OMR Sheet with the representation.

Candidates should ensure that their email is sent before 11:59 PM on 10th September 2026, and keep the screenshot and acknowledgment of the sent email safe for future reference.
In view of the growing dissatisfaction of students and an impartial investigation into the human and technical errors in OMR evaluation, the Chairman of the Commission has constituted a high-level 5-Member Expert Committee consisting of five senior subject experts and technical officers. This special committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of point-wise scrutiny of all valid e-mail representations received till September 10. The committee will investigate whether there was any server-level technical glitch in the reading of barcodes or marking of answers by the scanning software. Also, the OMR sheets of 60 thousand candidates whose result has been cancelled, will be cross-checked manually (manual verification) so that the future of any eligible candidate does not depend on the technical glitch.
The committee will prepare its detailed report and present it before the Commission around September 15. Senior officials associated with the Education Services Selection Commission say that if the investigation of the committee confirms the malfunction of the evaluation software or the mis-match of marks, then the Commission will correct all the errors and release the revised result of UPTET 2026 (Revised Result & Revised Scorecard) on the official portal. upessc.up.gov.in But will release it again. However, no official announcement regarding the revised result will be made until the committee submits its final investigation report.
Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 was conducted on 2, 3 and 4 July 2026 amid tight security arrangements at thousands of examination centers across the state. More than 19 lakh registered candidates had participated in this examination. According to preliminary data released on August 26, out of 7,13,648 candidates who appeared for Paper-1 (Classes 1 to 5), 5,71,435 were declared passed (pass percentage 80.07%). Whereas out of 10,57,021 candidates who appeared in Paper-2 (Class 6 to 8), 7,59,513 were shown successful (pass percentage 80.65%).
The result percentage may look very high on paper, but on the ground, thousands of meritorious candidates are left in limbo due to result rejection and reduction of marks. This examination is not merely a means of obtaining an eligibility certificate, but is a mandatory pre-condition to appear for the upcoming Super TET and Assistant Teacher Recruitment Examination in council primary and upper primary schools of Uttar Pradesh. If these discrepancies in the results are not resolved transparently in time, thousands of eligible candidates may be deprived of the application process for the upcoming teacher recruitment. Therefore, it is very important for the candidates to ignore the rumors and register their objection on email with complete evidence before the last date of 10th September and keep an eye on the official website.
