Amidst the ongoing tension between India and Maldives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Eid to Mohammad Moizzu. PM Modi congratulated Maldives President Dr. Mohammed Moizzu on Eid-ul-Fitr to the government and countrymen and also mentioned the long-standing cultural and civilizational relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi said, “As we celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with traditional enthusiasm, people across the world are remembering the values of compassion, brotherhood and unity.
“Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his warm greetings to the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Moizzu, the Government and the people of the Republic of Maldives,” the Indian High Commission said in a post on 'X'. He also highlighted the cultural and cultural ties shared between India and Maldives since 1950. Moizzu, known as a pro-China leader, had said after assuming the post of President in November last year that he was ready to pull out Indian troops. After Moijju's announcement that he will fulfill his election promise to the country, relations between India and Maldives have become tense.
Moijuni is a lover of China
India and Maldives have traditional relations, but Mohd. Muizu is considered a lover of China. His inclination is more towards Chinese President Xi Jinping. As soon as Muizzu became the President, he started putting pressure on India to withdraw the Indian Army from Maldives. Not only this, as the President of Maldives, he broke tradition and visited China for the first time. In such a situation, Maldives' relations with India continued to deteriorate.
