A White House statement said that Joe Biden will also address people of Indian origin during Diwali celebrations.

Indian-origin American astronaut Sunita Williams will congratulate from space. A statement from the US White House also said that a video message from NASA astronaut Sunita Williams will also be played at President Joe Biden's party. Williams recorded the message from the International Space Station, where he has been since September. Sunita Williams is an Indian-born Hindu who previously sent Diwali wishes from the ISS to people around the world. According to the White House, he also celebrated his legacy by bringing samosas, Upanishads and copies of the Bhagavad Gita into space.

Last year in 2023, Jill had organized a similar party for Biden. Sharing the video, Joe Biden wrote, “Today, Jill and I light a lamp on the occasion of Diwali, seeking the light of knowledge, love and unity over the darkness of hatred and division.”
