Current US President Joe Biden has taken an important decision for India before the end of his tenure. He has approved the defense deal. Under which India will get important defense equipment of MH-60R multi-mission helicopter from American companies. This will further increase India’s strength. The procurement cost of this equipment is $1.17 billion. The President has also informed the US Congress about his decision.
According to the US State Department, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency told Congress in a notification that the proposed equipment sale will improve India’s ability to deter current and future threats by upgrading its anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The Biden administration has approved the sale of major defense equipment to India just weeks before the end of its four-year term.
These people will visit India
Under this deal, defense equipment will be supplied by American defense company Lockheed Martin and Mission Systems. 20 US government personnel and 25 representatives of contract companies will visit India for the sale and technical assistance of these weapons.
America-India relations will strengthen
The proposed sale will support US foreign policy and national security objectives, help strengthen the US-India strategic relationship, and improve the security of a major defense partner. This sale will improve the Government of India’s ability to deter current and future threats by upgrading anti-submarine warfare capabilities. India will have no problem in integrating these equipment and services into its armed forces. The US State Department says the proposed sale of these equipment and aid will not change the basic military balance in the region.
